From Tarot Zamm to Zammtopia

Introduction

Many of you first came across my work through Tarot Zamm. That public-facing identity became the way I shared semiotic guidance, intuitive interpretation, and my way of reading symbols, patterns, and meaning. For a long time, that was the main part of my work people saw.

But tarot has always been only one part of something much bigger. Behind it is a broader philosophy that has shaped my life for many years. It grew out of thought, practice, and lived experience, and it carried me through some of the hardest periods of my life. What I’m sharing now through Zammtopia is that bigger picture.

Zammtopia has existed since 2011. It started as a passion project centred on building community through tarot teaching. Some of you may remember those early meetup groups. They were an important part of how this work first took shape. Even though that early community did not continue in the same form, Zammtopia itself remained. It carried through difficult years, including the COVID period, because the philosophy behind it had depth and staying power.

What’s changing now is not the heart of the work, but how clearly I’m sharing it. I’m giving the philosophy that has always underpinned my work a clearer home, language, and structure. Tarot Zamm is still part of this. It still matters, and it still belongs.

The mind map helps clarify that. It shows tarot as one branch within a larger body of work whose central aim is the Harmony of Mind and Spirit. This post introduces Zammtopia as a whole: its philosophy, pathway, tools, learning structure, and deeper layers that support personal growth.

The Core Ontology: Understanding the Push and Pull Within

I know that push and pull because I feel it too, and I know you do as well. It is part of being human. In Zammtopia, this sits within the core ontology. It names the constant tension between the forces that shape our humanity and the way we experience the world — indecision and decision, cynicism and optimism, self-knowledge and self-avoidance, intention and habit, to be or not to be, to name a few.

This battle matters because people often misread themselves. They think something is wrong with them when, in reality, they do not fully understand what is happening within them. They may check out, stall, get stuck in loops, overthink, repeat the same paralysing patterns, or act against their own interests without knowing why. Zammtopia begins by giving language to that struggle so it can be recognised and addressed more clearly.

What is shared on the Zammtopia website is a starting point. It introduces people to this ontology and opens the door to a deeper understanding of self. The full Orientation Course goes further. It helps learners recognise this battle in their own lives and rethink how they understand their thoughts, behaviours, and internal patterns. That deeper work belongs within the learning environment itself. What matters here is that this struggle can be named, understood, and worked with.

And since semiotics is integral to Zammtopia, its tools and applications, we have our own language — or, may I say, “Zammtopia speak” — to help us relate to concepts more vividly through metaphors, archetypes, and symbolism.

The Four Pillars of Excellence

What are the Four Pillars of Excellence? Where did they come from? They are load-bearing pillars, rooted in lived experience and practice. They reflect how they guide me, how I live, how I make decisions, and how I have kept rebuilding.

The Four Pillars became foundational because they held weight. They were the internal processes I kept returning to for structure, reliability, and direction. They helped me stay upright when things felt crooked. They are the pillars I share with you now, and they form the foundation of Zammtopia because they continue to support how I navigate life every day.

Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is the first pillar that helps maintain mental clarity. It is the discipline of seeing things as clearly as possible, filtering out noise, and refusing to surrender my mind to anger. Though I do get angry — I’m only human — I do not let it rule my life. I process it by understanding how things or triggers affect how I feel or influence my decisions. Emotions can often paint a very different picture from a clear mind. Critical thinking lowers the volume of panic, unrealistic expectations, and confusion. It helps me organise experiences so I can respond more appropriately.

Personal Agency

Critical thinking strengthens Personal Agency — the second pillar. Personal Agency supports accountability and effective decision-making. With the two pillars working together, even in difficult conditions, they help guide me towards the right decisions, show me which path to take, and prepare me to face the consequences of my choices. Even when mistakes are made, Personal Agency deepens because the lessons from those mistakes help me make better choices the next time. Without Personal Agency, we can easily get stuck. It is a constant reminder that life requires participation, and that participation is what keeps failures, mistakes, or collapse from turning into passivity or disempowerment.

Consistency

Consistency is the third pillar that turns thoughts, concepts, or the pursuit of self-actualisation into practice. It carries me through long stretches when motivation is low and keeps life going. It taught me that steady action matters more than mood, feel, or vibes, and that meaningful change is usually built through repetition, discipline, and persistence.

Intuition

Intuition is the fourth pillar that helps recognise patterns, sense timing, and understand what is happening beneath the surface. It sharpened my ability to notice more than what was obvious on the surface. This is one reason tarot is such a natural tool in my work, but intuition itself extends far beyond tarot. It is part of how we learn to read life and create meaning. Intuition is also the automatic consequence of the first three pillars being mastered. So even if one may say, “I don’t care for intuition,” if the first three pillars are strong, intuition manifests.

Together, these four pillars form a philosophical yet practical foundation. They are deeply personal to me, yet also teachable, and they help us better understand ourselves and our development.

The Zammtopia Pathway™

Since leaving my public sector job last year (2025), I have been thinking about how to codify and share the philosophy that has guided me from the get-go. I wanted to codify it step by step, concept by concept, and practice by practice so it would be easily understood, relatable, and transformative.

By analysing how I have lived over the years, including my experiences, what I did, what helped, what worked, what kept me standing, what did not help, and what allowed me to be more open to change and to accept with humility that nothing is permanent — and that change respects no one; everyone will experience it at some point — all of this is my philosophy in action. The Pathway materialised as a clear way to organise life when it becomes more complex and requires different parts and responsibilities to be managed at the same time.

The steps of the Zammtopia Pathway™ formed over time. It supports responses to pressure, change, and uncertainty. Each step supports the next and helps create purposeful movement. I share the Pathway because it helps me. It may also support you if you want a guided way to understand yourself and live more purposefully.

Orientation

Orientation is the starting point. It is the book I wrote, which has now become integral to the Orientation Course, sharing aspects of the philosophy I have since called the Zammtopia Philosophy to help us understand how thoughts work and how these concepts shape the way we see ourselves, our space, and our circumstances.

The Orientation answers questions like “Why am I here? Why am I this way? What should I do? What can I do better? How can I take my power back?” These are just some questions it answers, and there may be many more answers to appreciate in practice. The topics I wrote in the Orientation continue to help me understand my internal and external world and give me ways to move forward when things feel unclear. They provide a clear view of the bigger picture, help reframe limiting perspectives into something we can work with, and align the goals we want to achieve with the values we want to live by.

The Orientation also provides an understanding of the different types of people around us, including the challenging ones we encounter in the news, on social media, at work, and in other settings.

The Orientation includes the full Zammtopia Philosophy — including its lineage — which helps us understand the Human Condition and provides immediately applicable tools to get out of the loop or stuckness we are in.

Knowledge Boosters

Knowledge Boosters support and build on the Four Pillars of Excellence. These are the learnings that expanded my understanding and supported my practice. They help me break down large concepts into digestible pieces across many topics and broaden my perspective on the world and how I understand it. Knowledge Booster topics are based on academic and scientific discoveries or studies, translated and curated into language that is easier to understand and apply. They help us recognise what is happening in our thinking and in our world so we can work with it rather than be overwhelmed by it. And since I love learning and am a perpetual learner, everything I learn will be shared in digestible bits that are easily understood through blog posts, courses, and community catch-ups further down the line.

Music and Reflection

Music has always touched me. We know how a song can speak to heartbreak, or how certain tracks can give us energy during a workout. Music helps me relax, clear my head, and reflect. It helps me process my thoughts when talking is not enough. Music often translates experiences that are hard to articulate into something we can feel, hold, and eventually accept. This is one reason Zammtopia has its own musical department through NamelessChick. Music helps me, and many people relate to this — it reaches everyone in some way, which is why it is part of the Pathway. It’s too potent a tool not to include.

Integrated Experiences

“Integrated Experiences” is the first integration level — bringing everything into life. This is where understanding becomes lived practice. I apply the concepts in daily situations, identify my weaknesses, and adjust with awareness. This is the step where insights and learnings are given the opportunity to be born into the world through practice, and when done consistently, regardless of whether we fail at first or get it right on the first try, Integrated Experiences help build trust in our own process. It is an important part of the Pathway — the stage focused on applying and integrating learning from the Orientation, Knowledge Boosters, and Music and Reflection. It also includes other modalities I practise and will include those I discover in the future to support and complement the Four Pillars. You will learn more about these as you explore the Zammtopia Pathway and Philosophy.

The 12-Step Zammtopia Coaching Mindset Shift

The 12-Step Coaching Mindset Shift is inspired by the genuine process of change effected by people who go through different addiction programmes like AA — Alcoholics Anonymous, NA — Narcotics Anonymous, and other similar healing and transformative programmes.

As the above programmes are healing and life-changing, I created the 12-Step Zammtopia Coaching Mindset Shift programme to do the same — to heal and change our lives, rewire our brains, reframe our thinking, see and appreciate life as a responsibility, and treat it like an enterprise: our Life Enterprise, which we need to be successful in, because we are talking about our life, and there is only a finite number of seconds in it. Knowing that, what are we going to do to make each of them count?

In this sense, the 12-Step Zammtopia Coaching provides an opportunity to learn how to do this, to find resources, protect our interests, and make our life profitable — in experience, wisdom, memories, legacy, and in forming lasting relationships with the people in our circle, especially with our children, if we have them.

I used metaphors to make the concepts relatable and bring them to life in a practical way. This helps us recognise where we are giving power away, understand what can be done to change that, identify the different approaches required, and clarify the true meaning of ownership — what is mine and what belongs to someone else — ensuring we are mindful of where we spend our energy. Energy is a valuable resource, as is time — every second of it. The 12-Step Zammtopia Coaching builds the kind of accountability that leads to growth and helps shift us from survival mode to living more responsibly for ourselves and the people we love.

Life Enterprise Integration

Bringing everything together from Orientation to the 12-Step Zammtopia Coaching made me realise we now have in-depth, comprehensive, and practical tools to build our Life Enterprise, and we need this step in the Pathway to bring all the learning into practice by integrating it into our daily lives.

It offers a break from conceptual learning and encourages practice — this is the only way to integrate everything learned so far into day-to-day life. When reflecting on and structuring my philosophy, I realised that this stage is critical to supporting who I am becoming and provides fertile ground for the third pillar, Consistency, to flourish. This is also the second stage of integrated practice, which prepares us for the next section of the Pathway: Mastering Intuition.

Mastering Intuition

Mastering Intuition is about recognising patterns from lived experience — interactions, decisions, joys, pain, sorrow, and the ways we respond to them, including triggers — in the daily grind. It strengthens the internal language and meaning-making that guide decisions and helps us respond with greater confidence. Intuition is integral to how I navigate life — grounded and connected. Although it appears to be the last step in the Pathway, it is not the first time we engage with intuition. Throughout the Pathway, intuition is always present in the background. The more we learn, practise, and become consistent, the more intuition grows. Every step from Orientation onward contributes to intuition. By the time we reach Life Enterprise Integration — the second integration stage — we are more aligned, more receptive, and better able to embrace intuition and its power to change our lives for the better.

Strategic Frameworks

Beyond the pathway itself, Zammtopia includes strategic frameworks that support learning, application, and retention. These frameworks help people move from understanding an idea to remembering, using, and embodying it in everyday life. In many ways, this process is closer to building muscle memory than to collecting information, because the goal is not just to know something intellectually but to become practised in it.

I developed these frameworks to strengthen the bridge between insight and action. They came from recognising that understanding alone is often not enough; people also need structure, repetition, and meaningful points of recall if they are to carry what they learn into daily life. In Zammtopia, the frameworks support that process by keeping concepts active, usable, and easier to return to over time.

Some of these frameworks are introduced publicly at a high level so people can begin to grasp the wider shape of the work. Their deeper mechanics remain within the learning environment, where they are taught in the right sequence and context. This protects the integrity of the learning process and allows each framework to be understood as part of a larger whole rather than as isolated information.

Tools and Services

The tools and services within Zammtopia make the philosophy practical. They give form to the ideas, allowing people to engage with them in ways that are reflective, applied, and personally meaningful.

Tarot as Applied Semiotics is one of the most recognisable parts of the ecosystem because it is how many people first came to know my work. But within Zammtopia, tarot is understood as one tool within a broader philosophical and educational structure. It is not separate from the philosophy; it is one of the ways the philosophy becomes visible, accessible, and usable.

The Cognitive Mirror reflects what is present in the learner, the reader, and the moment itself. In practical terms, it helps reveal patterns, dynamics, and inner material that may otherwise stay unseen. That reflective quality is central to how I work with tarot. It supports a way of reading that is not only interpretive and insightful, but also developmental, helping people recognise what is happening within and around them with greater clarity and find their next steps forward.

I created Zammtopia’s free Tarot-as-Applied-Semiotics app in New Zealand in that same spirit. It applies semiotics in a way that interrupts habitual thinking and opens space for reflection. That interruption matters because insight often begins when our usual patterns are briefly disrupted. In this way, even a simple tool can become a point of entry into deeper awareness.

There are also consultations for those seeking guidance or coaching, as well as the Five Stages of Intuitive Reading chain of courses, which are already available on the website. Together, these offerings support different levels of engagement, from personal reflection to more structured learning and development.

Consultations and One-to-One Support

Of course, we always have one-to-one guidance to support and rally behind you every step of the way. That has always been an important part of this work, because while Zammtopia offers a philosophy, a pathway, and practical tools for self-understanding and growth, there are also times when personal guidance makes all the difference.

That is why the integral services I have been offering for years remain part of the ecosystem: tarot reading sessions, Sounding Board, and Level Up sessions. These spaces are here for those moments when you need clarity, reflection, direction, or simply a grounded place to process what is happening in your life.

Tarot reading sessions continue to offer intuitive and semiotic guidance, helping you see patterns, possibilities, and what may be happening beneath the surface. Sounding Board sessions create space for deeper reflection, allowing you to talk things through, organise your thoughts, and hear yourself more clearly. Level Up sessions are there for those moments when you are ready to move forward more intentionally, whether that means making decisions, strengthening your direction, or meeting the next version of yourself with more structure and purpose.

And soon, in-depth Focus Areas sessions will also be available. These will create a dedicated space to go more deeply into specific parts of life, thought, growth, or challenge that need more time, more care, and more concentrated attention.

So while Zammtopia continues to grow through courses, tools, philosophy, and community, one-to-one support remains part of its heart. Some things are learned in community, some through self-paced study, and some through direct guidance — and all of them have their place here.

The Metaphysics of Completion

The Metaphysics of Completion sits as a deeper philosophical layer within Zammtopia. It falls within the broader scope of the work and points to further depth beyond the introductory material. It is part of the deeper framework for those who move on to more advanced engagement.

This area speaks to the larger arc of what it means to come into fuller alignment with self, insight, responsibility, and meaning. While it is not fully unfolded at the introductory level, it remains an important part of the philosophical foundation and signals that the work extends beyond surface-level self-improvement into deeper existential and metaphysical questions.

Learning and Community

Learning has always mattered to Zammtopia, and community has always been part of its story. That was true in 2011, and it remains true now, even though the early community chapter changed form over time.

The learning platform is part of that ongoing commitment. It exists to provide people with a structured space to engage with the philosophy, frameworks, and tools in a way that supports real understanding and application. The wider community infrastructure is being built with care so that it has a strong foundation when it opens more fully. Growth takes structure, and community needs a space that can genuinely support it.

A strong community is not built only through shared interest, but through shared language, meaningful engagement, and a structure that can hold people as they learn, reflect, and grow. That is part of what Zammtopia continues to work towards. While we are still building, you can certainly join now to witness the progress and growth. Join here.

A Final Word

I want to reassure those of you who have known me through Tarot Zamm that this work is very much here and will remain part of what I do. Tarot Zamm remains within Zammtopia because it has always been part of the larger picture. Tarot was one doorway in. Zammtopia is the wider world that encompasses it.
